Beast Master
I looked around and couldn't really find any beast master ranger builds. Are there any skills absolutely necessary to be a successful beast master (Other than Charm animal of course )? Not asking for a build just some of the most important skills and ill go from there. Any input is appreciated.

[Enraged Lunge] [Tiger's Fury] / [Bestial Fury] Has great synergy, although the only beastmaster builds I ever see in PvP are thumpers; rangers that use a pet and a hammer to keep their target on the floor the whole time.

Well, the most common ones have either [skill]heal as one[/skill] or [skill]rampage as one[/skill]. Just remember, with [skill]rampage as one[/skill] , you'll need to take [skill]comfort animal[/skill] to keep your pet around. The Sunspear skill [skill]never rampage alone[/skill] is nice, as you will have high enough rank going through Consulate Docks and capping heroes to make it worth taking. Take a few high damage/degen attacks such as [skill]feral lunge[/skill] , [skill]disrupting lunge[/skill] , or [skill]poisonous bite[/skill] for your pet. As for weapons, a spear has become pretty popular to use for its higher average IAS and pressure. Of Course, there is always the bunny thumper build using a hammer, which is effective and just plain fun to watch XD

[Otyugh's Cry] is well worth a space on your bar if you have Prophecies. Your pet gets +24 armor and cannot be blocked.
[Never Rampage Alone] if you have Nightfall is also a real winner.
Just today I took down most of Magus Stones, Eye of the North, in Hard Mode with heroes and hench and a Beast Master Build including these powerful skills. To get a few more Asura faction points and to level up my pet. Pet was only level 17 and never died once.
I think the reason you don't see many Beast Master Builds listed here and there is that once you have the basics as mentioned in posts above, you sort of throw on whatever else seems to be useful at the moment.

[enraged lunge] is probably the best elite for an all-out beast master build.
Combo builds (you and your pet both doing damage) based around [never rampage alone] are fun too.
[never rampage alone][read the wind][charm animal][comfort animal] + whatever else you want (maybe a couple bow interrupts and a couple pet attacks).

I think a lot of people overlook [Strike As One] I guess it's more pvp oriented now but, I have a lot of fun with it in PvE cause of the instant teleport your pet gets to your target. That has a few minor benefits too, like your pet tanking at the start of a fight to keep pressure off your party members (and generally I don't have issues with the pet dying in that scenario). I use this coupled with [Never Rampage Alone] and [Read the Wind] as well as Drago's Flatbow (20/20 armor pen, 15^50) for fast shots. Plus [Scavenger Strike] helps you keep your energy up so you never have to miss out on the rampage in a fight. But that's just a few ideas.

Gustin you beat me too this. I use to use all the previous suggested elites, and for some reason I tried Strike as One with various condition skills then Scavenger Strike. I had amazing energy management with it. I would usually follow with needling arrow to help finish off the target. You get better pet healing with Heal as One, but I would rather have better energy management.
I've not used Never Rampage Alone that much because it takes a lot of energy, but with Scavenger Strike to refuel the bar, it may be a decent option to look at again.

I personally love the r/p based versions when it comes to beastmaster, tough a bow user will do just fine.
I'd recommend bringing either the VG assassin summon or an asura summon to go with the pet. Every additional meatshield means more widespread damage to relief your healers and keep your pet standing. In addition the asuran versions can benefit of the ebon standard of honor to increase their damage so i'd recommend these - to be specific the mursaat one, the added weakness would improve your party's survival changes even more.
Never rampage alone is also very nice, tough kind of requires you to use scavenger strike for energy control as the standard of honor/summon arent affected by expertise and would leave you dry very quickly. The added regen will also help keeping the pet alive to deal damage.
Then you can add some utility like spear of redemption (if you go spear) or focussed shot (if you go bow), preperations like apply poison/read the wind or further strengthen the pet trough something like feral aggression.
This would bring something like:
Spear or Bow attack / Preparation or another attack / scavenger strike / ebon battle standard of honor / summon mursaat / never rampage alone / charm animal / comfort animal.
Then you can use the elite slot for one of the attack/preparation slots, or replace comfort animal with Heal as One, or replace scavenger strike with Ferocious lunge... Anyway, this should provide some idea on how to get going.
Note: NEVER EVER EVER bring a pet along without comfort animal or heal as one. If you cant res your pet then dont bother bringing one.

I only use pets with R/P builds usually. I find the adrenal skill from spear attacks fits better for my playstyle. I don't really enjoy 100% pet damage builds but if i did i would run a standard [Enraged Lunge] build. Prolly the best damage you can do.
At the mo im running
[Asura Scan][Never Rampage Alone][Ferocious Strike][Barbed Spear][Spear of Fury][Blazing Spear][Charm Animal][Comfort Animal]
Im gonna drop NRA for another attack or possibly [Ebon Battle Standard of Honor] as im going for Sweet Tooth so i'll be popping Candy in every instance for the forseable future to cover my IAS/IMS needs

Damn it what's the reason that charm animal and comfort animal haven't been merged into one skill?

Don't waste your time, BM is not viable in GW. Bring a pet for fun, not for success.

Silence! Do you want them to actually make Beast Mastery viable?
You're a madman!
